Blackhouse – The Grill on the Market
Grill on the Market is a spacious and welcoming place, boasting some really great live music that resonates it's classy yet relaxed atmosphere. Even during our mid week visit, the bar was a busy mix of London's businessmen chatting after a long days work and friends meeting up for predinner drinks. The restaurant is huge with tables aplently and a separate private dining area which caters for twenty guests.
We've previously blogged about one of the Grill's sister restaurants and the bar was set so high there was some work to do. Fortunately the standard was not dropped, the Blackhouse chain really does maintain it's quality wherever in the country you are. It's great to know that you can guarantee a big tasty steak in a number of different locations.
The waitstaff in the London branch were incredibly friendly and clued up on both the menu and specials, promising us a tasty evening and just being genuinely nice people.
We worked our way through a delightful three courses and a bottle of house wine, choosing the steak special of the month (a beautiful Charolais fillet) and the chicken fajitas. Yum! Sharing plates are always a great choice for starters and the calamari really is a highlight. Our affogato and creme brûlée dessert was a dream and left us feeling delightfully full.
Grill on the Market is definitely worth the visit if you are in the Barbican area of London, especially if you are after a great steak. It's bar is also a great place to meet up with friends or business associates alike, so make sure you pop in!
