They show just what a vibrant and inspirational market this is."

Brief citations for all the winners follow, along with details of finalists in each category.

ICON AWARD
Bob Ivell receives this prestigious award on the back of a long track record of success and leadership in the industry. Over the last year he has provided a calm hand on the tiller of Mitchells & Butlers, smoothing its structure and recruiting a new CEO. His previous achievements include the development of Chef & Brewer and a long list of influential stints on boards of leisure firms.

ICON AWARD
Robin Rowland is the inspiration behind one of the UK's most distinctive casual dining brands, YO! Sushi. His leadership and insight have built it into first a national and now a global name, democratizing Japanese food along the way. A board member for several other businesses and a committed supporter of the industry to boot, he has been an example for others to follow.

NEWCOMER Presented by Ecolab
New World Pub Company scooped this award for the success of its first pub, The Oast House in Manchester's Spinningfields. New World, the pub arm of Living Ventures, has just opened its next site, The Botanist in Alderley Edge, following a similarly eclectic but inclusive approach, and more will follow. Finalists in this category: Burger & Lobster, Draft House and Meat Liquor / Meat Market.

BREAKTHROUGH BRAND Presented by Reynolds Catering
Loungers has quickly broken out of its heartlands in the south west to become a national force. With a smart approach to site location and an offer that attracts drinkers, diners and coffee fans alike, it is now set for even faster expansion, with the help of a £16m injection from private equity firm Piper. Finalists in this category: Be At One, Pho, Red Hot World Buffet and Wahaca.

EVOLUTIONARY BRAND Presented by RBS
Côte has grown to 37 restaurants in just five years, and has evolved its brand with each successive opening. With a simple but relentless focus on the fundamentals of top-notch food, service and value, and by constantly working on its infrastructure, it has been able to push well out of London.
Finalists in this category: Le Pain Quotidien, Prezzo and TGI Friday's.

BEST TRANSPORT OPENING Presented by Livebookings
Jamie's Italian at Gatwick is Jamie Oliver's most ambitious opening yet, combining elements of his Italian restaurant, bakery and Union Jack's bar. It illustrates the exceptional quality of travel-based food offers now, and is a smart, flexible leveraging of brands to suit the unique demands of an airport. Finalists in this category: Leon, King's Cross; Merchant of Bishopsgate, Liverpool Street (SSP); and Parcel Yard, King's Cross (Fuller's).

BRAND EXTENSION Presented by Peach Factory
Byron's Burger Shack took this award for capitalizing on two of the hottest recent trends in eating-out: ‘better burgers' and street food. Its mobile unit has been a hit at music festivals around the country, with care taken to preserve brand integrity and incentives issued to pull customers back to its restaurants once they return home.
Finalists in this category: Giraffe Stop, Jamie's Deli and Geronimo Inns' The Calf pop-up.

PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT Presented by Enotria
Hall & Woodhouse can attribute much of its recent success to its people policies. Finalists in this category: Las Iguanas, Spirit, Stonegate and Whitbread.

TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION Presented by MICROS
Wagamama picked up this prize for its augmented reality project to promote its Wagamama Lounge concept for music festivals-a first of its kind in the sector. Finalists in this category: McDonald's, The Fat Duck and YO! Sushi.

CONSUMER CHOICE Presented by Coca Cola Enterprises
