Living Ventures joins industry body ALMR

Bar and restaurant operator Living Ventures, based in the north-west, has joined the bar industry's leading body, the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR).

The company operates 31 sites, mainly in the north of England, including the new Manchester House restaurant and bar in Manchester, The Alchemist bars in Manchester and Leeds and other Manchester venues such as the Oast House, Australasia and Artisan.

It adds to the growing breadth of membership at the ALMR which now represents more late-night venues as well as restaurants, bars and pubs.

Living Ventures managing director and co-founder Tim Bacon (pictured) said: "Living Ventures has grown by investing in people and property and the ALMR is committed to protecting retailers like ourselves from interventions that diminish our ability to grow, re-energise communities and create jobs.

"We look forward to working with the ALMR and other members to articulate the huge value we add to government."

ALMR chief executive David McHattie said: "Living Ventures operates a great range of diverse and exciting brands throughout its portfolio. The mixture of concepts from the Oast House to the fine dining at Manchester House is indicative of the quality and originality of this dynamic vibrant sector.

"Living Ventures are an excellent example of the growth and proper sustainable jobs that are generated, even in challenging economic times."

Manchester House has opened in the Spinningfields development off Deansgate, close to other Living Ventures sites such as the Oast House, The Alchemist and Australasia. It includes The Lounge bar on the 12th floor with terraces offering views over Manchester.
