Tim Bacon receives a Legends of Industry Award from Variety, the Children’s Charity
Tim Bacon was amongst the many icons and influencers to be honoured at this year's Legends of Industry ceremony which took place on the 12th November at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester.
This annual event honours and celebrates those who have achieved outstanding success in their chosen fields of business, sport and industry and raises crucially important funds for Variety, the Children's Charity, to support sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people in the region.
Past winners have included Dragon's Den star Duncan Bannatyne and British broadcaster Mike Sweeney. This year's recipients made this an equally star-studded event, with Torvill and Dean being joined by Sir Howard Bernstein (Chief Executive of Manchester City Council), best-selling crime writer Martina Cole, award-winning celebrity chef Aldo Zilli, former World Champion snooker player Dennis Taylor, leading Manchester sommelier George Bergier, Tim Bacon (CEO, Living Ventures), Charles Ledigo (Chairman, Reisser Ltd) and Kevin Horkin (The Horkin Group).
Entertainment on the night was amazing, with Rowetta (Happy Monday's star), and Paul Pashley, who entertained the guests during dinner, and finishing the night off " Abbasolutely" a fantastic Abba Tribute Band who had the dance floor full to capacity.
Lyn Staunton, Development Director of Variety, the Children's Charity, North West Region, commented: "We are always humbled by the outstanding achievements of each recipient of our Legends of Industry Awards, who have all excelled themselves in their chosen fields. We are delighted to have such wonderful support and interest from corporate industry yet again and, as a result, this year's awards were completely sold out, and bookings already for the Legends of Industry 2015 Awards."
Variety, the Children's Charity, hosted the event for the fourth year to raise funds to provide positive experiences for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people. Variety provides practical help, including Variety Sunshine Coaches, Variety wheelchairs and specialist equipment, through its grants programmes, in addition to creating memorable childhood experiences through the Variety at Work scheme.
