Liverpool dinner with a difference will send strong message about living with disability

Olive Restaurant and Bar on Castle Street have teamed up with Daisy UK to host a dinner with a difference - because everyone will be blindfolded.

The charity will hold their tenth anniversary dinner as a Dinner in the Dark, with a three course meal, where diners will be blind-folded.

The aim of this is to give guests a fun sensory experience, whilst delivering a powerful message about disability.

Daisy UK supports assisting disabled people to fulfil their true potential despite their disability and encourages them to grasp opportunities through sports, education and employment.

Founder of Daisy UK, Dave Kelly, said: "I lost my sight 18 years ago at the age of 30 and decided that I had to turn this life changing disaster into something positive. I am delighted that Daisy UK has gone from strength to strength over the past ten years and been able to help so many people to come to terms with a whole host of disabilities, including, like myself, blindness.

"Dinner in the Dark encourages diners to see how long they can keep the blindfold on for, and then be grateful that they can remove it.

"People cannot truly empathise with disability unless the appreciate the challenges. Dinner in the Dark is a light-hearted and fun way of highlighting the difficulty of living with a disability."

Neil Cooper, General Manager of Olive Restaurant and Bar added: "We are delighted to be hosting Dinner in the Dark with Daisy UK. We intend to make it a fantastic evening, full of fun and, of course, great food, but we are delighted to be supporting a charity that does so much to help so many disabled people as well as highlighting the difficulty faced on a daily basis by the millions who suffer life changing disabilities."

Tickets are priced at £25 each with a donation to Daisy UK, with live entertainment from singer Lee Martin and raffle prizes. To book your tickets please call Olive Restaurant and Bar on 0151 227 2242.
