Red Door Manchester - Review
The bar and restaurant scene is growing at a rate of knots in Manchester and you would be forgiven to have no clue about most of the newest additions in Manchester. King Street appears to be the latest development area with El Gato Negro opening recently and a number of new bars set to open their doors over the next few months. If I told you about them all this blog would be a pure food and cocktail feast with little else in between but there is one new opening that I was pleasantly surprised by and certainly warrants a place here. Let me introduce you to Red Door.
Located underneath The Botanist on Deansgate, this underground bar fits in perfectly with the new developments emerging on King Street and adds a touch of glamour to the traditional underground late night bar. There will be visiting DJs and there is an impressive PA system set up ready for bands and acoustic performances. The space is perfect for just that with a dance floor area so you can unwind after a long week at work.
The cocktails are pretty incredible too with classics and originals on the menu. My absolute favourite was Fizz Your Bean with its jelly bean in the bottom for a sweet treat once you have finished this dry, fizzy delight. The French Martini is also good with a lovely pineapple foam that is light and sweet. As well as the perfectly constructed menu you will find experienced cocktail bartenders who are trained to make over 100 classic cocktails so if there is something you fancy that isn’t on the menu, there is no problem here. Gone are the days of ‘I’d really like a Margarita but I can’t have one here because it isn’t on the menu and they don’t know how to make it’, yes this has happened to me before, they will sort you right out at Red Door.
One of my favourite things is that despite Red Door being an underground late night bar, it still oozes class without that dingy feeling you get normally for this type of bar. I can’t wait to go back, I’ll see you at the bar. Mine is a Fizz Your Bean if you get there first. Oh and if you visit in June all the cocktails are 2 for 1. Surely you don’t need any more excuses.
Your neighbourhood bar. Great service and extraordinary drinks to a sound track of classic tunes.
