Cocktail Bar Alchemist Set To Open At MediaCity In Salford Quays

Trendy cocktail bar and restaurant, The Alchemist, is set to open at Salford Quays .
Well established in Manchester city centre with sites in Spinningfields and New York Street, the owners announced earlier this month that it was opening a bar in Alderley Edge.
Now the Knutsford-based company has applied to Salford council for a premises licence for a restaurant at The Bund, Dock 9, Media City, close to The Lowry Arts Centre .
The futuristic building designed by Reid Architects sits between North Bay and Huron Bay and was the location for a sales office for developments in the area.
A notice of application has gone up in the vicinity. It is to permit the sale of alcohol between 8am and 2am daily and to permit the provision of entertainment between 10 and 2am daily and late night refreshment between 23.00 and 2.30am.
The restaurant is according to managing director, Simon Potts, a ‘casual all day restaurant...serving brunch, lunch, and dinner alongside our beautifully crafted cocktails."
First launched in Spinningfields five years ago, The Alchemist now has five sites nationwide including two in Leeds and one in London, with a sixth set to follow in Liverpool this month.
If there are no objections from residents the application is likley to be considered without going to the council's full planning panel.
The company's website boasts of its ‘molecular mixology'.
It describes its venues as "a cocktail bar and restaurant that celebrates molecular mixology, alchemy and craftsmanship.
"Drinks are served in all manner of vessels with theatre and panache with food served morning, noon and night. Changing colours, dry ice, hot and cold sensations and elements of nostalgia can all be found within the four walls of the menu."
The restaurant would bring a touch of Manchester city centre glamour to the former docklands which already has several thriving bars and restaurants, including Damson, and The Dockyard.
Situated near The Lowry Arts Centre there is Lime, and Bella Italia. The Lowry also has its own restaurant.
Living Ventures were set to bring one of their brands to MediaCity, but a deal for the unit next to Wagamama fell through. Alchemist could open next month.
The restaurant is part of the Living Ventures restaurant group set up by Tim Bacon, who died in April, aged 52, after fighting cancer .
Living Ventures is behind other other successful eateries including The Alchemist, Australasia, The Oast House and Artisan.
The Alchemist is open for morning coffee, brunch, lunch and dinner offering everything Living Ventures are renowned for – excellent service, innovative cocktails and great food.
